America runs on coffee! If you are one of the millions of people who frequently drink coffee then this is for you…

It’s important to note that even though there are health benefits to coffee, drinking more than four cups per day actually does more harm than good.

1. Coffee jumpstarts your mind and body

The U.S. National Library of Medicine reports that the caffeine in your cup of Joe actually stimulates your central nervous system forcing your body to feel more awake! A study by PLOS One even found that coffee is shown to give consumers performance-enhancing benefits in endurance exercises along with enhancing cognitive performance.

2. Coffee leads to a longer life!

Circulation followed 200,000 people and discovered those who drank between 1-5 cups of coffee actually have a lowered likelihood of death associated with cardiovascular diseases, neurological diseases and suicide.

However, remember it’s best to not go over 4-5 cups of coffee. Too much caffeine is harmful to your body.

3. Lower inflammation levels

A study recently published in Antioxidants found that coffee actually had more antioxidants than red wine and green tea! Antioxidants protect against free radicals which cause inflammation in the body.

4. Greater heart health

Even though this study has some conflicting issues, the American Heart Association believes women who regularly drink coffee have a lower risk of developing coronary heart disease.

5. Will coffee help you lose weight?

This is another one of those studies that have some conflicting issues, however Scientific Reports published this year that recent finding indicate coffee may stimulate brown adipose tissue (brown fat) a type of fat that help burn white body fat which is fat that people desire to lose the most.

It’s important to note that it’s not a good idea not to add too much sugar, artificial sweetener, or cream because it can increase weight gain.

Final Word

Even though coffee has many health benefits, it’s important to stay under the maximum limit aka 400 milligrams or 4 cups per day.
