Wisconsin State Trooper Brody Schmitz responded to help a motorist who had pulled over near Interstate 90. During the encounter, the driver shared a troubling account. She told Schmitz that she had witnessed someone throw several kittens from a moving vehicle.
According to a post from the Wisconsin State Patrol, the vehicle responsible was never located. However, the report led Schmitz to search the area, where he discovered one surviving kitten.
Rather than leaving the animal’s future to chance, Schmitz transported the small tuxedo kitten to a nearby animal shelter so it could receive proper care while he finished his shift. Before leaving, though, he made it clear that he intended to provide the kitten with a permanent home.
The trooper later adopted the kitten and named him Toby.
